Does anyone know where I can find reviews on exercise recumbent bikes? Or recommend one? I have been looking at the Edge 440 recumbent exercise bike, but cannot find any information on how good they are. I haven't heard of Edge before and wonder if anyone has anything made by them or where I might be able to go online to find any reviews on it. Also if someone has one that they would like to recommend. It is going to be a gift for my father who is approx 6'2" with long legs so the seat needs to be quite adjustable. Thanks

Exercise Recumbent bike and losing weight? I just recently bought a recumbent stationary bike. I wanted to lose quite a bit of weight. I intend on dieting as well as riding the bike. Has anybody else seen results with a recumbent bike? I would like to lose atleast 3 pounds a week.

Which exercise bikes are better, upright or recumbent? I'm looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can't decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Also, if you have any suggestions as to which brands to get or NOT to get, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to spend under $150, just a very basic bike, nothing fancy.

Exercise with Recumbent Bike to Help Me Loose Weight? I bought a recumbent exercise bike 2 weeks ago and am wondering how much this will help me. I have not had any form of exercise in a couple years and within the last year I have gained 20-25 lbs. I would like to work this off. For those who would like to know - I am 5'5" and 150 lbs. I know it will take time but I am willing to keep at it. I have worked my way up to 40 minutes on it a day. I am hoping to keep exercising 6-7 times a week. I have been using a program of either varying between 2 or 3 resistances. I have been trying for 10 miles on it and it says I am burning 450 calories in those 40 min. though I think that is a bit high. My question is, is my current pace enough to help me shed those extra pounds? How long will this take me? Or what should I be doing to help lose the weight better? I will be happy just to be able to build muscle which I hope will kick back my metabolism. I would like serious answers from people who know what they are talking about please. As for the 'dieting' I would say I am pretty average with what I eat. I know I cannot get into a diet right now so please not say thats the answer. I do however drink a lot of water and juice and hardly ever drink pop which should be helping me. I am eating a bit healthier than what I was a year ago. I am hoping that exercising will be enough to help me loose some weight. Then with time start watching more of how I eat.
How effective are exercise bikes? I'm toying with the idea of buying myself an exercise bike. My sister has one, says she burns about 1,000 calories a day. I'm leaning more towards a recumbent bike, preferably the ProForm SR30. I'm figuring a session in the morning, then one after work, plus a bunch of different crunch methods to top things off. Of course, my real problem will be to stay motivated, which is always the hardest part for me.
What is better a rowing machine or a recumbent exercise bike? I am setting up a home gym and I am looking at getting a piece of equipment for cardio (though if it helps out other muscles I am fine with that). I am a mid twenties male so my body can take a bit of a beating, but I don't want to get a machine that will end up injuring me when my goal is to get in better shape (ie I've heard treadmills can wreck joints). I have narrowed my choices down to two machines either a Nautilus NR3000 Recumbent Bike or a Concept2 Model D Rowing Machine. I think both are high quality but which form of exercise will get my overall body into the best shape in a healthy way?
Looking for a PC Compatable exercise bike? I am looking for a recumbent bike (magnetic flywheel) that has the ability to interface with a computer via usb to track my exercise results. Even a good piece of software to do this would be appreciated (mac osx pref. but windows is ok) I have found a few bikes, but I am looking for something in the sub $750 range. A few things popped into my head.. How hard would it be to modify an existing exercise bike to transmit the stuff it dumps into it's computer into mine? Is there any sort of kit I can attach to any recumbent exercise bike to track the statistics? Thanks for your time.

Issues with the Schwinn 202 Recumbent exercise bike.? My parents have owned one of these contraptions for about 2.5 years now and used it rarely. Recently my father attempted to use it but the computer did not start up thereby preventing full usage. I have called several places but nobody can seem to give me a straight answer. If anybody here knows or can find something to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.
Are exercise bikes good for losing belly fat? I'm trying to find an affordable home exercise machine for my room that i can use on a daily basis to get rid of my extra "pudge". are upright or recumbent exercise bikes good for this? there are to many negatives about running outside. such as its embarassing expecially if your really out of shape, you cant jsut stop when you want to, if you run out of water, you have to go all the way back to your home, if you have to sue the washroom you have to go all the way back, im 17 and my parents wont let me jog at night (which is when i would prefer to workout, to workoff my meals of the day so they dont jsut sit around while im sleeping) its jsut not convenient for me to jog.

Exercise Bike for Short People? I enjoy riding exercise bikes, and my roommate and I are planning to purchase one. I've noticed that I have problems being comfortable on recumbent exercise bikes-- I'm 5'1''. Google searches have helped me find bikes that are NOT good for short people, but I can't find any that are particularly good for those of us who are vertically challenged. Any recommendations on specific bikes?

I am hoping for expert help in exercise and fitness? I am a 66 year old breast cancer survivor. I have gained 90 pounds since my treatment a few years ago. I am retired, so have all the time in the world to get into shape. I need a healthy diet and exercise routine to follow everyday. What's the best indoor aerobic exercise? Treadmill, Elliptical, Upright Bike, Recumbent Bike, or Stair master? What the best machine or combination of machines to use to get a balanced aerobic work out? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks
Schwinn 220 or 240 recumbent exercise bike comparison? I'm looking at getting one for weight loss/general fitness. And was looking between these two models. The 240 has some additional programs, a heavier flywheel and a color screen but I'm not sure if any of that will make any difference to me. Anyone have the 220 and can provide some opinions? I had hoped to find both at a store to compare but I can't seem to find both at one location. They either have various combinations of the Schwinn models, but never those two side by side. If anyone knows a store in the Philly suburbs, I'd appreciate that too! Thank you Bob, actually there are a couple things about that. The price of the 240 is actually $450 most places ($350 for the 220, and $400 for the older 230 model being phased out), Amazon seems to have 'run out' and it defaulted to one of their stores that has it at full retail, hence the $700 pricetag. The other thing I noticed was the options you listed from the comparison chart seem inaccurate (not because of you), if you look at the photos of the console, the 220 has the Interval time, rpm, etc listed as well. I noticed them before while comparing the screens online. Sorry about that, I should have mentioned those details as one of the reasons I was looking for someone that knew the models personally. As the facts listed online seem a bit suspect.
Recumbent bike good jogging exercise? I hate jogging... and it's hot in the middle of the summer. So I wanted to see if I could use the recumbent bike that my mom just bought to train jogging as effectively as just jogging? (I'm going into cross country at the end of this summer.) The bike is a really nice one that comes with the built in programs like wind sprints.
Will I benefit from using a mini exercise bike? I bought 2 exercise bikes, one recumbent for in front of the TV for when I am watching my favorite shows. I have been doing about 40 mins a night. During the day when I am at my computer I have a mini under the desk bike. With the mini bike I am using it alot but really not exerting myself. I know that to lose weight you need to diet and exercise. Am I helping my weight loss at all with this?
Is it unsafe to exercise on a recumbent bike every day? I recently got an exercise bike -- Yay! I've been DYING for one! Anyway, I really enjoy using it, and I am using it for leg strengthening, but mainly for fat burning and aerobics. I ride for about 20-30 minutes at a time, and typically get 5 miles done in that time, burning 100 calories. I'm trying to work up my strength and stamina so that I can do more than that and burn a bit more. Anyway, my question is, I really enjoy riding it. Is it actually harmful for me, or less productive if I use it every day though? The book recommends I use it 3-5 times a week. Will my results not be as good/fast if I use it every day as opposed to 3-5 days a week. 1. How often should I ride to get the best results? 2. How fast should I be going? (I typically go 14-16 MPH.) 3. How long should I aim to ride for? (I typically go 20-30 minutes.)
What muscles in the body are being used on an exercise bike? I just bought an exercise bike and was wondering if all it worked was the leg muscles. It is an upright bike I guess, I know its not a recumbent bike.

I'm getting an exercise bike. Should i get an upright model or a recumbent model? I'm looking to tone my legs. And by that I mean I want to make everything smaller from my thighs down to my ankles! PLEASE HELP!
What kind of exercise bike: upright or recumbent? I'm 15 years old and i'm having a difficult time figuring out what kind of bike i want to buy. after dieting and exercising for a few years now i started to get varicose veins from running too much on the treadmill. so i stopped running for a while but i knew i still wanted to reach my goal weight so i was wondering which would help me lose weight a lot without putting so much pressure on my legs. i know recumbent and upright are both good but by the looks of the recumbent, something tells me i burn less calories because it looks a little too comfortable. please, help! is till want to reach my weight of 110 (i'm 5'4).. when lost 15 but then i think i might have like, 5 pounds back and i still want to lose 30 pounds with diet and exercise! i have bad experiences with anorexia..
MANUAL Schwinn SRB-1500 Recumbent Bike? I Need the manual for a Schwinn SRB-1500 Recumbent Exercise Bike, does anybody knows where can i get it?
Recumbent exercise bike calorie readout wrong? I bought a pretty nice recumbent bike for exercise of course. My goal has been 500c-1,000c a day ( yea intense I know ) I did a test at 5 minutes going at 15mph on a friends upright bike and got 82.5c burnt. With my bike, I only burn 109c per 10 minutes at above 15mph ( very vigorous ) So here I am, heart pounding, sweating to death after 20 minutes of 18mph. only 250c burnt I checked online calcs and for a readout it would be 990c calories burned per hour... For the sake of my health and so I don't push myself too hard, does anybody know an approx amount of calories burned on a recumbent exercise bike? ... ( stats = 6' 190lb very intense intense workout ) also note, the bike's calories do not change with resistence settings... if the readout is correct its very demoralizing
How long do I have to ride an exercise bike for, to get the equivalent of running 2.5 km? I have a Recumbent bike and the resistance is on medium. Please give a Time and not a distance
Which recumbent exercise bike should I buy? I have a recumbent exercise bike now, but it makes too much noise and the seat is not comfortable. Nonetheless, I use it 4-5 times/week. I only use the most basic computer program (to set it to a manual resistance). So, any thoughts on which recumbent exercise bike is durable, quiet, comfortable, and costs no more than $600? Thanks.
recumbent bike vs traditional? is there any workout quality loss between a recumbent bike and a normal exercise bike?
Much much should i exercise? How many times a week, and for how long should i exercise? I have a recumbent exercise bike which i have just purchased.
Eligible FSA item: recumbent exercise? I am an FSA claim processor doing a claim for a lady that has a letter of medical necessity stating she needs to buy a recumbent stationary bike for the treatment of arthritis and other medical conditions with her legs. I am on the fence with this claim. Can a person be reimbursed for this type of expense? thanks
Good exercise bike for someone with an arm injury? I recently had major elbow surgery due to a fracture. I'll be in a cast from my shoulder to my fingers for several weeks, along with a sling. I have a trip to Europe booked for 3 months from now and would like to continue my (now modified) fitness routine so I don't put on weight before then. Once I rest and begin to heal sufficiently, I want to gently start up some basic exercises for my lower body, so I've decided to purchase a recumbent exercise bike that I can lean back in, rest my arm against my upper body in it's sling, and still be able to peddle away while watching some tv or whatnot. I'm specifically wondering if anyone has some recommendations on a good model of bike for this purpose. My main three concerns are: 1) I need the range of my leg motion to not wind up being so close to my upper body that it hits my arm, as this would be VERY painful. I'm thinking maybe a partially recumbent bike would be better for this reason? (Such as this model: "Stamina 15-0200 InTone Folding Recumbent Bike" -- http://www.amazon.com/Stamina-15-0200-InTone-Folding-Recumbent/dp/B000UZFSSO) 2) I'm 5'8" so I need a bike that can accommodate taller people with long legs. 3) It would be nice if the bike wasn't gigantic and was reasonably priced ($150-$400 range). And no worries, I won't be overdoing it, and I won't start exercising until I am sufficiently healed to be safe for my recovery. Thanks!! Someone mentioned talking to a salesperson, but I have to buy online because I can't drive at the moment due to the injury.
Exercise bikes? What are the benefits of using an upright exercise bike versus a recumbent one?
i am looking to buy an exercise bike... need help!!? i know that the heavier the flywheel the better... but is a magnetic recumbent exercise bike with an 8kg flywheel bad because it is only 8kg? and if so what is a good weight for an average weight woman?
