Recumbent Exercise Bikes Knowledge Base
Does anyone know where I can find reviews on exercise recumbent bikes? Or recommend one? I have been looking at the Edge 440 recumbent exercise bike, but cannot find any information on how good they are. I haven't heard of Edge before and wonder if anyone has anything made by them or where I might be able to go online to find any reviews on it. Also if someone has one that they would like to recommend. It is going to be a gift for my father who is approx 6'2" with long legs so the seat needs to be quite adjustable. Thanks
How to choose between upright and recumbent exercise bike? I have a sit-down job at home and have heel spurs on both feet, which doesn't help my morbid obesity. I want to get an exercise bike for when my feet really hurt, but would like to know opinions on upright versus recumbent exercise bikes. Recumbent might be easier on the tushie and I could use hand weights more readily, but an upright is a little smaller. Help!
Need a Recumbent Exercise Bike for Someone with Back Problems? Can anyone recommend a recumbent exercise bike in which the seat backing can be adjusted to either an angle or upright. My wife is looking for one but suffers from extreme back spasms and feels more comfortable in a seat with a near vertical backing. Thanks!
Which recumbent exercise bike should I buy? I am interested in a recumbent bike. I am considering the Nautilus 2000 or the Vision Fitness 2150 or 2200. They all have similar features, so I am inquiring primarily about the quality of the bike and comfort with extended use. Any advice will be appreciated. Any other opinions?
Website for exercise bike reviews; have two bikes in mind? I am looking to by a recumbent exercise bike and like these two from amazon. I am not looking to spend more than $200. They are the Stamina 15-4600A Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike and Phoenix 99608 Magnetic Recumbent Exercise Bike. Exercise Recumbent bike and losing weight? I just recently bought a recumbent stationary bike. I wanted to lose quite a bit of weight. I intend on dieting as well as riding the bike. My question is how long should I stay on the bike to see results? Or how many calories should I burn? Would you consider this a good form of exercise? Has anybody else seen results with a recumbent bike? I would like to lose atleast 3 pounds a week.
Recumbent exercise bike calorie readout wrong? I bought a pretty nice recumbent bike for exercise of course. My goal has been 500c-1,000c a day ( yea intense I know ) I did a test at 5 minutes going at 15mph on a friends upright bike and got 82.5c burnt. With my bike, I only burn 109c per 10 minutes at above 15mph ( very vigorous ) So here I am, heart pounding, sweating to death after 20 minutes of 18mph. only 250c burnt I checked online calcs and for a readout it would be 990c calories burned per hour... For the sake of my health and so I don't push myself too hard, does anybody know an approx amount of calories burned on a recumbent exercise bike? ... ( stats = 6' 190lb very intense intense workout ) also note, the bike's calories do not change with resistence settings... if the readout is correct its very demoralizing
Exercise with Recumbent Bike to Help Me Loose Weight? I bought a recumbent exercise bike 2 weeks ago and am wondering how much this will help me. I have not had any form of exercise in a couple years and within the last year I have gained 20-25 lbs. I would like to work this off. For those who would like to know - I am 5'5" and 150 lbs. I know it will take time but I am willing to keep at it. I have worked my way up to 40 minutes on it a day. I am hoping to keep exercising 6-7 times a week. I have been using a program of either varying between 2 or 3 resistances. I have been trying for 10 miles on it and it says I am burning 450 calories in those 40 min. though I think that is a bit high. My question is, is my current pace enough to help me shed those extra pounds? How long will this take me? Or what should I be doing to help lose the weight better? I will be happy just to be able to build muscle which I hope will kick back my metabolism. I would like serious answers from people who know what they are talking about please. As for the 'dieting' I would say I am pretty average with what I eat. I know I cannot get into a diet right now so please not say thats the answer. I do however drink a lot of water and juice and hardly ever drink pop which should be helping me. I am eating a bit healthier than what I was a year ago. I am hoping that exercising will be enough to help me loose some weight. Then with time start watching more of how I eat.
Which exercise bikes are better, upright or recumbent? I'm looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can't decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Also, if you have any suggestions as to which brands to get or NOT to get, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to spend under $150, just a very basic bike, nothing fancy.
How effective are exercise bikes? I'm toying with the idea of buying myself an exercise bike. My sister has one, says she burns about 1,000 calories a day. I'm leaning more towards a recumbent bike, preferably the ProForm SR30. I'm figuring a session in the morning, then one after work, plus a bunch of different crunch methods to top things off. Of course, my real problem will be to stay motivated, which is always the hardest part for me.
Looking for a PC Compatable exercise bike? I am looking for a recumbent bike (magnetic flywheel) that has the ability to interface with a computer via usb to track my exercise results. Even a good piece of software to do this would be appreciated (mac osx pref. but windows is ok) I have found a few bikes, but I am looking for something in the sub $750 range. A few things popped into my head.. How hard would it be to modify an existing exercise bike to transmit the stuff it dumps into it's computer into mine? Is there any sort of kit I can attach to any recumbent exercise bike to track the statistics? Thanks for your time.
upright or recumbent exercise bike? dont have room for a treadmill in my apartment so i was wondering if any of you know whether an upright or a recumbent is better at working out the thighs and booty muslces
Recumbent bike good jogging exercise? I hate jogging... and it's hot in the middle of the summer. So I wanted to see if I could use the recumbent bike that my mom just bought to train jogging as effectively as just jogging? (I'm going into cross country at the end of this summer.) The bike is a really nice one that comes with the built in programs like wind sprints.
Will I benefit from using a mini exercise bike? I bought 2 exercise bikes, one recumbent for in front of the TV for when I am watching my favorite shows. I have been doing about 40 mins a night. During the day when I am at my computer I have a mini under the desk bike. With the mini bike I am using it alot but really not exerting myself. I know that to lose weight you need to diet and exercise. Am I helping my weight loss at all with this?
What kind of exercise bike: upright or recumbent? I'm 15 years old and i'm having a difficult time figuring out what kind of bike i want to buy. after dieting and exercising for a few years now i started to get varicose veins from running too much on the treadmill. so i stopped running for a while but i knew i still wanted to reach my goal weight so i was wondering which would help me lose weight a lot without putting so much pressure on my legs. i know recumbent and upright are both good but by the looks of the recumbent, something tells me i burn less calories because it looks a little too comfortable. please, help! is till want to reach my weight of 110 (i'm 5'4).. when lost 15 but then i think i might have like, 5 pounds back and i still want to lose 30 pounds with diet and exercise! i have bad experiences with anorexia..
Which recumbent exercise bike should I buy? I have a recumbent exercise bike now, but it makes too much noise and the seat is not comfortable. Nonetheless, I use it 4-5 times/week. I only use the most basic computer program (to set it to a manual resistance). So, any thoughts on which recumbent exercise bike is durable, quiet, comfortable, and costs no more than $600? Thanks.
Much much should i exercise? How many times a week, and for how long should i exercise? I have a recumbent exercise bike which i have just purchased.

I am an FSA claim processor doing a claim for a lady that has a letter of medical necessity stating she needs to buy a recumbent stationary bike for the treatment of arthritis and other medical conditions with her legs.
