Recumbent Exercise Bicycles

Cheap Exercise Bikes Knowledge Base

Does anyone know where I can find a relatively cheap exercise bike? Ok, I bought a stationary bike a few years ago from Walmart for about $100 but the thing is crap. It's very noisy and it's pretty much garbage. Does anyone know where I can buy a fairly priced exercise bike? $100-250 would be preferable. THANK YOU!

Which exercise bikes are better, upright or recumbent? I'm looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can't decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Also, if you have any suggestions as to which brands to get or NOT to get, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to spend under $150, just a very basic bike, nothing fancy.

When purchasing an exercise bike - what does it mean if the flywheel is heavier? I have two bikes which are near identical except that the flywheel on the more expensive one is 1.26kg and the less expensive is 5kg. Does this just mean that the cheaper bike is heavier ???
2 questions about exercise bikes? I am thinking about getting one soon, but I have a couple of questions first. First of all, I thought I remembered hearing that exercise bikes (and treadmills as well) didn't work well because you weren't actually going anywhere, is there any truth to that? And second question, does it really matter if it's a cheap one or an expensive one? I don't have much money, but if it works, I want one.
I can’t do much running, so can exercise bike help with flat abs:? I am 14 stones at the moment. My height=6 feet – 1”, and i am a slim medium build. Will the exercise bike i have, help me shred fat of my abs, i do crunches daily, but i know i need some cardio. Is this good enough? i have a very cheap exercise bike: Body Sculpture BC1510 (tension) manual adjustment Other option is to run with a football, in 10m lengths in the garden back and forth, I have 1 dumbbell and some large fuel cartons that I can use as weights. My Diet is good, I envy people with 6 packs, it’s a dream, and have always worked for anything and achieved in life, but my abs never! How long should I do on the bike:30mins daily? How many press-ups should i do, I max 25 in 1 go at the moment, also I am doing 15kg * 20 rep(2 sets) for my biceps and use 15kg*30 reps(2sets) dumbbell(with each arm) for pull ups for my back muscles. How can I get more strength and bring out the 6pack and shred those layers of fat without burning muscle tissue? Thanks in advance

calories being burned too fast on bike? now it is a middle price range bike, so i dont think it is because it is cheap. my exercise bike counts calories burned way too fast. for example, it goes up from 2.3 to 2.5 to 2.7 to 2.9 in a few seconds and i can be pedaling very slow. normally at the gym it takes forever to burn a few calories on an exercise bike, why is it going so fast?
Which exercise bike should I buy? Which of the following two exercise bikes would be best for me to buy? I'm a student so I'm on a budget, but other suggestions from the argos website would be appreciated. I think the first bike would be good in terms of not taking up much room, but if the second one would be much more beneficial to me I will get that one. I'd really like some advice from people who know a lot about this sort of thing! What should I look for when buying a bicycle? I want to buy a basic bicycle in USA to be used on the roads mostly and bikepaths in the city. The objective being - convenience (biking to grocery store rather than walk), fun (biking on the biking path along the river) and exercise. I have used bikes before in my country but never geared. Also, the different names for the bikes here are confusing. Can you please suggest what kind of bike I will need for my purpose and what all should I look for in a decent but cheap bike?
Could use to lose some of the junk in my trunk. Anyone have any easy cheap ways to lose some pounds? I use an exercise bike 30 min. a day, but I have an insatiable appetite, it's hard to control the amount of food I eat and I rarely ever feel full.

Before I've only had used and cheap bikes nothing special. I once had a Trek and even though it was old (someone gave it to me) it still was a great bike in my opinon. I was thinking about going with a Trek again, is there any other brands I should be looking at or specific models? I was also thinking about going steel frame to save some coin too is that a good idea or not. Thanks for taking the time!!!!

Exercise Advice For A Summer Body? Okay, I'm a 14 y/o girl. I'm (apparently) at a healthy weight, but I've still got tons of excess fat and cellulite that I want to get rid of. I started exercising a while ago, and lost 10 pounds. I continued my routine, and gained about 5 pounds back! ???! I don't "diet" exactly, but I eat very little junk food and sugar, mostly nutritous foods. The warm weather is comming and I want to be able to wear a swimsuit this year and actually look good in it. My question is what kind of cheap-ish exercise equipment would be good and where can I get it? My price max is about $30. I was thinking of an exercise bike and one of those small trampolines. I want to: - lose all around body fat - tone up a bit - firm my chest and butt up a little - gain a little bit of muscle What would generally be a good routine for me and is there anything else I should do?
What is a good, relatively cheap bicycle seat with springs? I'm a student and I got a bike a while back. It was basically a cheap bike to get around campus. Now I've started using it to ride trails, etc for a form of moderate exercise. The bike itself doesn't not have any kind of springs to absorb shock and the seat is pretty hard, so I'd like to buy a new seat that is more comfortable and which has springs. I would like some recommendations on brands and models. I'm looking to spend between $30 and $50ish. Thank you for any help you can provide!

My exercise bike is worn out! What to expect? I bought a stationary bike from Wal-mart a couple of years back. I used it every once in a while. I like to keep in shape. One day, I was using it and it started grinding. I thought, great, I overused it. I continued to use it since I couldn't afford another one, and a couple of months later, (today), it got even worse! Now it shakes when I peddle. I am so upset. I don't overuse it, and I take good care of it. Is it because it's cheap? Everytime I buy an exercise bike, or elliptical machine, it gets worn out! Anyone else have this problem? Should I just use it until it entirely breaks, then get a new one? Help, thanks!
just biking for exercise and need new rims? I am just biking for exercise. I don't ride everyday and I'm not really particular about anything on my bike, just that it rides. I just recently got my bike out of a storage shed to find that the rims are bent beyond repair. I will have to buy new ones and have no idea how to go about doing this or where to look. I just want a pretty cheap rim that will allow me to ride my bike. I don't need anything fancy. Any advice??
What makes big reatail bikes so bad? exatly? My Uncle wants to buy a new bike for exercise and he is a heavy guy around 160 to 150 pounds. He doesn't want to spend 300 on a bike. So he wanted to buy one in Wal-mart. And we all know that a wal-mart bike is not the best. So I thought the first best thing to do make the bike more sturdy. Since the people in wal-mart don’t really care about the bike assembly. i am an amateur in renovating bicycle. So i do have credible know how about bicycle. The second step is while I am assembling the bicycle I replace the cheap parts and use them in other bikes I am renovating and those bikes i am renovating is not going to be use as often since they are just for show. But i don't know exactly what parts of a wal-mart bike are “cheap”. Is it the gears, is it the wheels, or the entire bike? By the way, i know that each bike is different. i only want to know in generality. what is in general the weak parts in a wal-mart bike. Thank you in advance
Can't decide which indoor exercise bike to get? I am a male and I'm looking to lose a little weight. I don't mind jogging, walking, or biking but it's just too hot outside to any of it out there! I was considering getting a treadmill but they're too expensive so I though I'd go with one of those indoor bikes or whatever you call them. I found to cheap ones on the Walmart website but now I can't decide which one to get! I just want a bunch of different opinions from people. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stamina-1305-Indoor-Cycle/13285225 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Marcy-ME-709-Recumbent-Exercise-Bike/11820039 Which one would be more comfortable? Which one would help me lose weight the quickest? Which one burns the most fat? Which one is easier to use? Thanks for all your help!!!!
Is it important to mix up your exercise when you're trying to lose weight? Okay well I got a cheap (but new) stationary bike and I have been using it every day, and have so far lost about 19, 20 pounds. I was just wondering if I should be doing something else to work out different muscle areas? I am trying to save up for another piece of equipment but not sure what to get out of a treadmill, rowing machine or elliptical. Also, do you know how I could mix up my current work out? I have acess to my stationary bike, a skipping rope and some dumbells.

Most suitable exercise bike? I bought a bike which is non-magnetic as its cheaper. Its weight limit is 80Kg and I weigh 60kg. The other bikes were all magnetic with resistance....What is the difference??? Will my bike offer good exercise like as if you were cycling in the street with a normal bike ????
Need opinion on good comfortable exercise shoes? I do a lot of exercise to stay in shape. I have usually worn cheap no brand shoes that I also wear at work in a warehouse. I would say I am in good shape, can mountain bike 20+ miles, run a mile in 6 min etc. However at work just from standing all day my legs and feet get abnormally sore and tired and I think a better pair of shoes would help out. What male shoes should I look into that I can run and walk around in? Thanks in advance.
Would this be a good way to lose some weight/get stronger? So, I've gotten super lazy over the past few years. I got a slight potbelly and my legs could use some slimming down. Chin fat is starting to be a problem as well. Would getting an exercise bike and sticking to a schedule and increasing every week or so be helpful for burning fat and gaining muscle strength? I'm looking for something I wouldn't hate and its the cheapest exercise machine I've seen. Thanks :)

where can i find a cheap non motorized trike or four-wheel bike? hey, i'm about to start college and i'm living on campus. i'd like some form of transportation that will give me exercise and be able to easily lug around some books or groceries. since i have some MAJOR balance issues, i thought a stable trike or four wheel bike would be a good option. i've looked into vendors like rhoades car but they're kind of expensive. does anyone know where i can get a cheap, general use trike or "car style" bike for around a thousand dollars or less?
Does anybody know of a lightweight exercise machine (like a stationary bike) that I can use in my room? I am looking for a lightweight stationary bike or something similar that I can stow easily and get a workout while watching TV or reading in my room. It can be cheap and without extra features - I just want to do some cardio activity while watching TV (besides sit-ups and push-ups). Any ideas?
What road bike should I get for a cheap price? I am on my high school wrestling team and I exercise all of the time to cut weight but usually all I do is run and it is killing my knees so I am gonna buy a road bike but I don't wanna spend more than 200 dollars so what are my best options for a bike that wont break my first month riding it?

Where can i buy a cheap rear wheel for a mountain bike that doesn't cost £50? I could use the gear cranks from the older wheel as it works fine but is a little rusty, but probably would benefit a whole new rear wheel with gear cranks pre-fitted. really don't care what it looks like i only use it for the exercise anyways.
What is the best type of bike for city riding? And what kind of bike would you recommend I buy? I don't really have the money to replace my bike, but I will be using it every day soon and I want to have something road worthy. I may start looking for used, but I need help deciding what to look for: I like (need) a comfort saddle (like the kind you find on Specialized Comfort bikes). I like to lean forward a bit (not ride in upright position). I ride in the city, on pavement that is smooth (but for they occasional crack or bump). Sometimes I ride hard and I desire performance; I use my bike for exercise and less often transportation (though that may be changing). I enjoy my current ride: a cheap Specialized hybrid (comfort/mountain), but it's kind of boring, not enough balls I might say. Specific models would be great (but keep the MSRP under $500).

help with an exercise machine?!? i need a cheap one so i looked at walmart for the ones that are 125 dollars and below because my moms paying for it and well you know how that goes, shes so interested in helping me lose weight and i guess its good encouragement. the biggest problem for me is my lower stomach starting right above my belly button and then goes down to the top of my pubic bone and around my waist and stops, before my spinal cord on both sides about an inch and a half. does anyone know of a good exercise machine? i was looking at the gazelle, i have plenty of time to do a vigorous workout on it, same with an exercise bike where it could be in my room while watching tv. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=4134&fromPageCatId=4125 ^^^link to walmart exercise/fitness page^^^
healthrider exerplay 200 exercise bike power? so, the stupid bike cost $350, and the cheap company doesn't include a power pack. gotta buy it from the company for like $80. when i try a power cord i have lying around, the lcd screen just lights up, with no read out. so, i put in some OLD energizer batteries, it works fine. i put in NEW duracells, and the resistance doesnt move, and and guide wheel doesnt do anything. so...guess my question is, do i have something not hooked up right? is it a faulty unit? is it...duracell? i'm really perplexed here. any help is COOL. thanks. sub question: anyone know what type of power adapter to use? i THINK it's 90 watts, but i can't find any info anywhere.
Feel full but I'm not... Side effects of stopping an exercise routine? Alright, so I've got this issue... I'm a student, and discovered it's cheaper to bike to and from school than pay for the bus twice a day each month. So I was biking and biking back and forth for about...3-4 months straight, 6-7 days a week, at least two rides (there and back) each day, if not more, going other places as well throughout the day. Summer break started, and for me it was only a week because the program's a one-year intensive, and I didn't bike because I was out of town. The week after I was back to my normal biking schedule. At the end of that week, my front tire blew, and I just now have the money to get it fixed (again, I'm a jobless student). So that was about two weeks ago that the tire blew. For the first week I was fine. At the beginning of this week, though, I had a bunch of days with odd eating patterns, for various reasons, mainly timing I suppose and sudden lack of groceries at home, but slowly throughout the week things progressed from Monday's no-breakfast-big-dinner-can't-get-to-sleep-no-matter-what-I-try night, followed by Tuesday's-early-energized-morning, and things got slightly stranger and stranger until today, where basically my stomach feels full, but I still get hungry at regular meal times, my stomach growling and the usual the more time goes before I eat. Even stranger is that when I get food and start to eat, I have to practically force myself to get it down because I know I'm hungry, I feel hungry, but my stomach's reacting like "whoa...whoa...what are you doing? I'm full? Can't you feel it?" and it gets a faint sort of queasy feeling, which goes away after each bite settles in my stomach, but then I hear another growl and I've got to take another bite...which is followed by the same wary/queasy feeling from my stomach. My sentiment tonight after again trying to get to sleep and not succeeding (though it was only about 10pm, somewhat early for my usual bed time), that maybe it's my sudden change from so much regular exercise to nothing at all (the biking was all I did for physical activity). Does anybody know if that's accurate, or have any other ideas about what might be going on? The most frustrating part is that I know I feel weird, I just have no idea what's really wrong, and therefore no idea of what to do to make it better. Thanks.
What kind of exercises can i do in my apartment? What would u suggest? Is using a jump rope good at all? Cause that is cheap but it would be loud to the people below me. I have a bike for inside exercise but i wanted to add more to my routine. I thought maybe jump rope and weights just small ones for my arms? What do you think? What about lunges?
Got any exercise ideas? I need to lose weight. I do go to the gym but I absolutely abhor exercising (I know what people say but it doesn't apply to me: I don't feel good after exercising). Usually I do elliptical and bike then I weight-lift (weight training is pretty much the only thing I enjoy doing at the gym). I do really like the row-machine though 9 times out of 10 they are taken (I go to my free university gym which is crazy crowded). The only sport that I can think of that I like is skiing (I can literally do it all day even though my limbs ache like nuts) but the problem is I don't live in a wintery area and it's expensive (Los Angeles... Mountain High has too much ice problems and is usually dangerously slick... the better ski areas are at least 2 hours away). If you are like me, do you have any ideas for a relatively cheap sport or exercise that I might like (besides running)?
What is the best bike for me to buy ? not Mt,bike but to exercise for my self daily. I'd like to have not too expensive but not that cheap kind. want to keep for some times.
What is a good used bicycle to buy? I need to buy a good commuter bike as I am not in the mood to pay outrageous gas prices again this summer. I have a fairly short commute to work, but I would also like to use the bike for cardio exercise. I am not looking to empty my bank account, but I am not looking for a cheap toy either. i would prefer to buy used. Any suggestions? a man's bicycle.
Which are the best Mountain Bikes I can buy? And specific parts I should buy? (Shocks, Frames, Etc..)? My Plan: I want to start mountain biking everyday so I can get exercise and stay in shape. I will ride 5+ miles a day and progressively increase the miles I ride. I do not want a road bike with skinny tires and curled handle bars. I'm looking to buy or build a Mountain Bike. The Mountain Bike Must Include: - Several gears for long distance riding and up-hills. - Good and great shocks. - Durable frame. In your answer, please include any of the following: - Brand names of good mountain bikes - Brand names of bike parts (shocks, frames, tires, etc.) - Prices (how much did you buy your bike for, how much were the parts (if any) that you put into the bike. If you built your own custom mountain bike.. how much were each part and the total amount you put into your bike. - Specific Mountain Bikes (some brand names, for example Trek makes several different bikes. So go into specifics. - Bikes I should avoid (Maybe you had a bad experience with certain bikes whether it be bad or cheap parts or durability problem with the bike) - Additional Information (any other information that can be helpful or anything that I forgot to mention that will help me decide what kind of bike I should but or build) - Custom Built Bikes (if you built your own bike, include what parts you have used, brand names, prices, colors, etc..) If anyone chooses to answer this question you do not have to include all of the information I have asked for in your answer. You can simply name Mountain Bikes that you like or that you know are good. If you are really into biking or have a custom built bike, please include as much information on your bike as possible. You can also website links to specific bikes. Thank you everyone for helping me find the right Mountain Bike to buy or build! I appreciate everyone taking their time out to answer my question. "Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride." - John F. Kennedy cycle guy: I'm mostly going to ride on roads, down to the beach. I live near woods where I might ride in, but I'm sticking to the roads mostly. I've ridden road bikes with thin tires, those bikes ride nice but I like the feel of Mountain Bikes. I wanted to give as much information as possible so people wouldn't answer just go to a bike shop. That's easy to do, I'd rather ask people who love and enjoy riding. My Budget is up to $1500. I'm not necessarily a beginner when it comes to riding, I used to ride all the time, it's just been a few years and technology has changed. Thanks Again!
What is the right bike for me? I am 5'1" and I'm looking for a bike to exercise with. It doesn't have to be fancy. Also the area I love in has a lot of going uphill. What's the right bike for me? Size of tires? Also, do you know a good website to find bikes? Thanks Cheaper the better. I'm only going to use it for 3 months
Question about Mountain Bikes? My wife and myself are currently looking to buy two mountain bikes for a reasonable price. We searched the local stores and only want to spend around 100 on each if not a little less seeing as we are not professional riders. We just want for exercise and to possibly spend a bit more time together. We found the NEXT line at Wal-Mart like the POWER X and Ascent for fairly cheap but I can't really find any feedback on them online anywhere. Does anyone know anything about these... if there junk.. or will they work etc etc.
What is a good starter bicycle? The last time I rode a bike was when I was a little kid and I never really got into biking. I'd like to know what would be a good bike to start with? I'm not into spending much money and to me $150 is a lot of money for a bike. I'm looking for something to judge whether or not I like biking enough to spend more money on nicer and better stuff. I'm mostly looking at used stuff but I have no clue at all what is out there to know if anything new is this cheap (Although I didn't think there was). I know some people talk about cheap bikes as $500 bikes but that is entirely way too much for me to go just to see if I'd ride a bike that much if I had one. I suppose most of my riding would be on pavement with perhaps occasional off-roading but nothing close to mountain biking or anything. Maybe even looking for a bike to help me exercise. And if it is of any relevance, I'm about 185 lbs and 5'6" or a tad under. Where would I rent a bicycle in that case? I've never seen any place that offers it.
hey where can i buy motorised branded treadmill in hyderabad india?can any one give the detailed comparision ? it would be helpful if u compare price to features to location where i can have a demo before buying in hyderabad, india.also i need the same info reg upright exercise bikes & elliptical machine .all the equipment should be movable n convenient to store at home.thanks.would like to know abt leading expensive to economical good enough but not the cheap ones..
Im trying to get more exercise to lose weight but...? Im jogging and riding my bike more but that dosent work my arms and i dont have anything to work my arms.Whats a cheap way to make sure im also working those arms not just my legs.
Bunny Exercise Ideas? Ok, so I have a lil butthead bunny. I love him dearly though. One problem I have is that he does not behave himself as he's running around, which makes it difficult for me to allow proper exercise for him. All of my other rabbits have been really nice while they ran around...maybe chewed a small thing here and there, but that was it. This guy is a terror. Even though he's completely litterbox trained while he's in his cage, he starts marking here and there while he's outside of the cage. He's able to jump in and out of his cage as he's running around, yet chooses to pee at least twice in one hour while he's out. I don't have a backyard currently, but I do have a balcony. The balcony is long and narrow. The exercise pen that I have (4 ft tall) is just barely short enough for him to be able to jump over it. He also starts to chew the carpet, and I personally don't mind the damage because it needs replacing anyways, but I'm worried that he might develop GI stasis because of it. He has a cage that's 4ft long by 2 ft wide, but I know that's not enough room for a rabbit to get proper exercise. He is also neutered (and has been for 2 years). He's really sweet otherwise and I would NOT want to give him up...but he just loves getting into trouble when he runs around. Any ideas of what could be done? As far as the description of the condo.... Wires are up and out of the way already, so there's no problems there. We have tile in the small bathroom and small kitchen and a cheap carpet throughout (which is getting replaced once we move out). There's a small balcony with limited space because we store bikes there. My mom also has several plants, some of which MIGHT be poisonous to rabbits...not sure. We do have hawks that fly around, so there's no option of just having him run the balcony even if the plants were not within reach. Again, any ideas?
fun ways to exercise? i'm trying to lose some weight, eat better and get some exercise, all i really get now is my few minutes bike ride to work.i'm not interested in joining a gym ,would make up excuses saying i don't have time to go, i'm looking for a way to get some exercise that's actually fun, and i'm doing something i actually enjoy, preferably free or cheap yeah sex, i like that one :) i'm not in school, 23 yrs old, i like hiking and stuff but it's a little bit of a drive to get to anywhere good..
Huffy vs. Schwinn? Which one of these bikes is best for general suburban area use. Sidewalks and streets mostly, so I'm looking for comfort as well as the ability to use it for exercise. I've pretty much decided on these cheap bikes so please choose from them: Huffy 26" Men’s Blackwater Comfort Bike -$80 Men’s Huffy Highland 18-Speed Road Bike - 26" -$90 Men’s Schwinn Cruiser Bike - 26" -$100 All can be found on Amazon if you need a picture.
If the cheaper the bicycle the more weight it can support what price should I spend on a bike? I weigh 270 pounds. How much should I spend on a bike? I probably will lose 10 pounds of weight a month if I keep exercising. Its going to be a mountain bike since I live on dirt roads but I will ride on the highway to different towns.
bike stand...? ok so i am sure these things exist: a stand to put your regular bike on so that it turns that bike into a stationary exercise bike. the only thing is i dont know the technical term for one of those and where to get them and a cheap yet efficient one at that. any suggestions would be great! thanks!
If I follow this, Will I lose my belly and leg fat by the end of the summer? Part 1: Running: it's cheap, accessible, and you get quick results. No membership to the gym required, and all you need are a pair of running shoes, shorts, and a shirt. If you run around your neighborhood for 45 minutes to an hour for 5 or 6 days a week, you'll lose abdominal fat, your thighs will shrink and become muscular, you'll look leaner, you'll sleep better, and you'll be able to do other fun physical activities like hiking more easily. Part 2: Strength training. Again, easy, accessible, cheap. No membership to the gym required. You can lift weights right in your own home. For example, take a dictionary to start, balance it on your hands while laying down, and lift up and down. Ta-da, strength training for the arms. Or, buy a set of weights from a sports store; they're relatively inexpensive. Part 3: Cut back on the junk food and replace it with fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, lean meats, whole grains, etc. Your diet doesn't have to be so strict that you end up binging on the bad stuff. Just make substitutions. Instead of ice cream, eat frozen yogurt. For your chips substitute, eat fat-free Pringles. Make sure you get enough of the good calories, and don't skip any of the food groups! (that means no low-carb diets) Any mineral or vitamin deficiency in your diet will compromise your energy stores and your overall health. Get involved in your cooking, so you know exactly what's going into your mouth. Look up healthy recipes on the internet. You'll find that a lot of these healthier foods taste much better than you thought they would. (Plus, you're spending the same amount of money on food; you're just buying different stuff.) Part 4: Reward yourself every now and then. It's fine to live a little. Just make sure you're only rewarding yourself once or twice a week. Part 5: Stay active even on your recovery days. Take a hike with friends in the mountains. Go for a leisurely swim. Bike with a significant other. Pick up a sport hobby, like tennis. Part 6: Keep at it and have patience. You didn't gain the weight overnight, so you're not going to lose it overnight. Don't expect to lose more than 2 pounds per week. Doctors and dietitians recommend this amount; anything else is considered to be unhealthy. The combination of eating right and exercising regularly WORKS. You'll become leaner and you'll stay that way if you continue to eat right and exercise daily. I'm trying to lose 15/20 pounds.
why everyone keeps saying that I wont survive if I get payed quite low. really? people keep naggin me to get a better education, so I can be payed really good and live nicely. but I'm fine with small money. I love to live humble. so about the food. I always buy a bag of apples for 2€ and its a lot of apples. another thing is that I'm a vegeterian and I dont even eat a lot. I run and exercise quite a lot but I dont need to eat tons of food like other people. even after a hard working day. its been like this for years. and a garden provides quite a lot of food. next thing is I dont even want a car. nothing. I can walk or take a bike. things arent far if you live in the city. so even my future kids can walk to school. but when I go somewhere, I take a train and that happens every two weeks. so I really dont spend that much money on transportation. internet is cheap, I mean whats 20€ and I get everything? all the fun with games and movies and chating with my friends. I dont even use the phone and TV. and computers dont spend so much electricity. so how much water and electricity I spend? not a lot, I mean I dont need water for some small pool or anything, except for garden but thats not much cause we also collect the rain. and me and my girlfriend dont need any versacci clothes. we are both humble. we have pants, we have shirts, we have shoes, what else we need? of course jackets for winter. but clothes arent expensive for me, if I buy in specific shops. so I already calculated and I can cover all the costs for me and my girlfriend with food, water, electricity, except without her clothes and I still have some money left. so if all the cost is covered, then my girlfriend will provide the money for our future children and there is even a social support. and a rent wont be much. us two can cover all the costs and we even save money, so when the kids will want some toys or guitars, we can afford it. and a health insurance is good, so if something happens, for the treatments will be well cared. and we can also afford holidays. its not that far from the sea. well I guess we are lucky that we dont need to fly to the sea. I live humble and I love it. so if all the costs are covered and then I just live humble, why are people still nagging me to get a better job to live nicely, if I already live nicely? I've been working for few months and I'm fine with this job. its not such a problem for me to be physically active all the time. I'm okay. except maybe I should still finish some school.
How can I get fit, ready for the Army? At the moment, I'm around 5"8 and weigh about 170 pounds (A little fat). I eat fast food everyday and do NO EXERCISE!! (yeh, really bad I know!). I plan to join the army in a few months, so I want to get fit and healthy before then. For a start; I have completely given up alcohol and fast food. I am now drinking between 10 to 20 pints of tap water per day, and I am taking Vitimin C pills (between 2 to 5 grams per day) and I go some days without eating any food at all (yes, I know this is bad, I want to change this). I've also started exercising in my room, I've started by doing 10 press ups and 10 sit ups every few hours. The pressup are easy, but the sit ups hurt my back ALOT - am I doing something wrong here or is that normal? Can you recommend anything else I can do to improve my fitness? Please dont recommend the gym or swimming pool. I'm not a very confident person (I'm hoping the Army will change that) and I don't feel comfortable exercising around other people just yet, so I just want to exercise in my room for now, and possibly get an exercise bike (or a real bike) I can use. I also plan to start running soon to build my stamina. I need realistic advice on: - Diet (preferably cheap and easy to cook / make) - Exercise I can do alone at home - Vitimins, minerals or any supplements that will improve my health Or any other advice you can give Thanks in advance !
What is good bike to get for riding around town, bike trails, and saving gas? On the cheaper side of things... I'm just looking for something to get some exercise on that will be useful should I decide to ride places instead of drive. I have no idea how to figure out sizes and all that either. Can you help?
diet and fiber? I hope to diet and exercise this summer. I know that if you burn more calories than you eat then you'll lose wieght. I want to have a lot of fiber mixed in water to keep me full so I'll eat less. I'll also be taking a multivitamin to make up for my loss of vitamins. I want to eat a fruit or small salad for breakfast and lunch and curb my appetite with fiber water. I'd like to eat my normal (but healthy) food for dinner, but much less. I plan to drink a lot of water (with fiber in it) to help me lose weight. For exercise, I do have a stationary bike, but it's boring. I'm going to say it now, I live in Texas and can't stand 70 degree weather, I WON'T WALK OUTSIDE. I will be doing all of my exercising at home so I need to know either cheap videos I can follow or easy exercises that will burn fat and/or calories. I need to know a few things: -Do you approve of my diet? -Can you name to exercises (of equipment) I can do that will help me lose weight? -What brand of fiber should I get?
college student/waitress that wants to lose 20 pounds in two months? Is it possible...really? I am not going to lie and tell you that i do a lot of exercise, I walk a lot at work and ride my bike to class most of the time. I'm in college so i drink quite a bit. And i prefer dark beer. I eat a lot of pastas because they are cheap and easy. I try to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. But i skip breakfast a lot. Is it possible for me to lose weight without changing my life around...you know, something that i can actually live with? Don't tell me to stop drinking, that won't happen. Maybe switch to light beer. Drink more water, what really works?
Need to lose weight by August...? Iam trying to lose weight from my stomach, legs and face so Iam also wondering what can i do (exercises, machines ect.) because I wanted to buy a tradmill or those stationary bikes but they only help you lose most weight on your legs.So is there one that can help both thats cheap? And what can help motavate me to do exercises because iam very lazy to do them. I need to lose weight really badly. Thanks- rai =]
Can you help me with my Bangkok itinerary? I have four days to spend in Bangkok. It is my first time & I want to squeeze in everything I can on a budget. Would it be advisable if I stayed in Khao San Road in my first two days and then transfer to Sukhumvit on the remaining two days? Or vice-versa? How does one commute from Sukhumvit to Khao San Road? Or should I just stay in one area for the entire duration of my vacation? I am interested in tours wherein I can sightsee and exercise at the same time, like a bike tour. Can anyone recommend anything similar to that that I can do? Since it is my first time, I am also interested in seeing the usual attractions like: -elephant ride -floating market -muay thai -cultural village -temples (which are the must-sees?) How much should I expect to spend on a tour? Can anyone also tell me the best places to go shopping at that cheap prices? I know there are tons of shopping areas there, but i dont want ot go to the high-end malls or buy handicrafts. Thanks!
I honestly have not exercised in about 8 years. So how should I start off and get into shape? I am tired of the excuses. I cry about being overweight but won't get up off my fat a$$. That is going to change. I got an exercise bike given to me and I bought a pedometer and some 3lb weights. Today I rode my exercise bike 3 times at 1.5 minutes each (moderate pace). I couldnt do more than a minute and a half at first. But then later I did it for 15 minutes straight at a moderate pace. At first it is hard but then you get used to it. How long should I ride my exercise bike every day? I need to lose about 40 lbs. And how should I lift the weights I have? I am starting off with 3 lbs and then I will buy more heavy ones as I get stronger. And when it warms up outside (if it ever does) I am going to go walking. It is about 10 degrees every day right now though. I am trying to find a cheap treadmill right now though. They are so expensive! And I also have a mini trampoline I am going to start jumping on every day. How long should I do that for?
Electric bicycle experiences? I recently ordered an electric bicycle: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200333249_200333249?cm_sp=Customer%20driven-_-Recently%20Viewed-_-Product%20Page for my commute to and from work. It's about 13 miles each way and takes me about an hour on my regular hybrid bike. Making this ride twice a day can wear me out by the end of the week, particularly since I often have to go against a stiff headwind. Plus it's gotten as hot as 108°F this summer during my ride home. Basically I'd like to cut down on the time and work it takes to make this trip, while still getting exercise and minimizing my greenhouse gas emissions. I should be able to recharge the batteries at work, so that will prevent them from getting discharged much more than halfway. I did some research, and this particular bike seemed fine and is relatively very cheap. So I was wondering if anyone with some electric bike experiences had any tips about electric bikes and biking. Yes I'm planning on pedalling essentially the whole route. The electric motor is simply to make the pedalling easier and make the trip quicker. Good tips 1x1, thanks.
Working Out (Dumbbell Question)? I am a pretty fit guy, but definitely not muscular. I am on a mission to get ripped, but I need the proper tools. I don't have much money and I don't want to go to the gym, so I am going to need something cheap that I can use at home. As far as I'm aware, I can pretty much get a full body workout with just dumbbells and a bench (does the bench need to be adjustable?) So, what I need are dumbbells in the range of about 3-20 pounds or so. I am considering purchasing this: http://www.amazon.com/Bowflex-SelecTech-220-SelectTech-Dumbbells/dp/B000E199SY/ref=pd_ts_sg_14/102-7228140-5312935?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods However, I was wondering if there is a better/cheaper solution. If so, can you please tell me where and what I need to get. Also, if you have any cheap bench recommendations that would be awsome. Thank you so much! *by the way I already have an exercise bike and exercise ball
What is better...joining a gym or the YMCA? I really need to lose weight. I want to start exercising but refuse to work out in the freezing cold winter weather here in Ohio or do those stupid at-home exercise tapes. I want to join some type of place for fitness. I'm not really into classes and I HATE working out in front of people...I am embarrassed. All I want is a treadmill, eliptical, bike, etc. for aerobic workout. Which place would be better? Which is cheaper? Thanks!
