Exercise bikes? Can exercise bikes tone your stomach up aswell as your legs? (even just a little bit, if i stand up and pedal.) How long should I cycle on it a day? How many calories should I burn with it? What does "odo" mean, it says it on the little screen but I have no clue what it means? Thanks xx
How accurate inaccurate are the calorie counters on exercise bikes? Every day I hope on an exercise bike for about an hour or so. It usually says I burn somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 calories. I am wondering how close to this number I actually might be hitting. Are these bikes often off by a small amount like 100-200 calories.....or are they frequently off by 100s of calories?
How effective are exercise bikes in achieving weight loss? I have just aquired an exercise bicycle from a friend of mine who was moving that didn't wish to take it with her. When I go to the gym (rarely) I usually use the elliptical machine, but since I have this bike now, I would much rather stay at home and workout. My question is for those of you who ride exercise bikes, is it really just as effective as other machines at weight loss, or will I have to ride at longer intervals to achieve any type of results? For the record, I'm 26 yrs old, 5'6 and weigh 130lbs, trying to get down to 120lbs, or at least stay in that range.
What muscles to exercise bikes work? Calf muscle? I have an exercise bike at home. I have started a programe to build my leg muscles. I can follow or use most of the exercises for all parts of the leg except the calf muscles - because I don't have access to gym equipment like leg presses etc... Do exercise bikes build up calf muscle?
Does anyone know where I can find reviews on exercise recumbent bikes? Or recommend one? I have been looking at the Edge 440 recumbent exercise bike, but cannot find any information on how good they are. I haven't heard of Edge before and wonder if anyone has anything made by them or where I might be able to go online to find any reviews on it. Also if someone has one that they would like to recommend. It is going to be a gift for my father who is approx 6'2" with long legs so the seat needs to be quite adjustable. Thanks
Website for exercise bike reviews; have two bikes in mind? I am looking to by a recumbent exercise bike and like these two from amazon. I am not looking to spend more than $200. They are the Stamina 15-4600A Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike and Phoenix 99608 Magnetic Recumbent Exercise Bike. Does anyone have any opinion on these or can direct me to a website that has reviews. I appreciat it.
Is weight capacity important for exercise bikes? Concerning exercise bikes, is obeying the weight capacity important? I'm an ogre, you see, and I understand that the weight capacity is important for treadmills as the parts in it could wear out. But bikes? As long as the seat is held up by a steel frame, does it really matter if i'm 20-50 lbs over the weight capacity?
How effective are exercise bikes? I'm toying with the idea of buying myself an exercise bike. My sister has one, says she burns about 1,000 calories a day. I'm leaning more towards a recumbent bike, preferably the ProForm SR30. I'm figuring a session in the morning, then one after work, plus a bunch of different crunch methods to top things off. Of course, my real problem will be to stay motivated, which is always the hardest part for me.
Which exercise bikes are better, upright or recumbent? I'm looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can't decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Exercise Bikes Good way to lose weight? Well I wanna lose 10-20 pounds so i plan to eat like 500-1k calories a day or a lil more... No higher than 1.5k and I want to know if I use a exercise bike, Diet Decently,Do like 50-100 Pushs ups a day, 50-100 situps a day and so on I will I possibly be able to lose the weight in 1-2months? 2 questions about exercise bikes? I am thinking about getting one soon, but I have a couple of questions first. First of all, I thought I remembered hearing that exercise bikes (and treadmills as well) didn't work well because you weren't actually going anywhere, is there any truth to that? And second question, does it really matter if it's a cheap one or an expensive one? I don't have much money, but if it works, I want one.
Are Exercise Bikes Actually worth it or is brisk walking better???? I currently do an hour on my magnetic resistance bike + 1 hour brisk walking. Would it be as beneficial to swap the bike for more walking or would my legs get fatter? The biking works up a good sweat, but walking does not so I tend to assume that means the biking is using more calories.
Will I benefit from using a mini exercise bike? I bought 2 exercise bikes, one recumbent for in front of the TV for when I am watching my favorite shows. I have been doing about 40 mins a night. During the day when I am at my computer I have a mini under the desk bike. With the mini bike I am using it alot but really not exerting myself. I know that to lose weight you need to diet and exercise. Am I helping my weight loss at all with this?
What are benefits of an indoor exercise bike and a outdoor exercise bike? The exercise bike will have a resistance knob. I usually use an elliptical to exercise. . .so this a change. How should I exercise on the exercise bike???????? I am trying to lose 10lbs through a fitness and healthy eating regime. Unfortunately I am quite unfit, and I find that walking very briskly is the best way for me to exercise without giving up due to tirednes. However, it is coming into winter and it gets dark here at about 6 o' clock, so it not really safe for me to walk at this time, also I am taking an important exam this year, so exercising in the house would be much easier to fit into my schedule. My family has an exercise bike, and try to make an effort to use it, however unfortunately I find it extremely boring. I cannot do vigorous peddling for more than 20 secs without giving up. Can anybody give me some tips about what way to exercise on it, that is I would REALLY appreciate it if you could give me a detailed plan of how exactly to do it, e.g. 3 minutes at this many rpm followed by..The functions on my bike are rpm, speed , time and distance (doesn't say what unit used,I presume km as this is Ireland) Please help me!!! Sorry, forgot to add that my bike also has up to 15 levels of resistance! As I mentioned before, I really would appreciate help!
What is the best for toning up legs exercise bike or? a running machine, i can only have access to an exercise bike... will it help for slimming down the tops of my thighs? i cant go out jogging it is too cold and i have not got enough time so i want to do my exercise at home.
How to choose between upright and recumbent exercise bike? I have a sit-down job at home and have heel spurs on both feet, which doesn't help my morbid obesity. I want to get an exercise bike for when my feet really hurt, but would like to know opinions on upright versus recumbent exercise bikes. Recumbent might be easier on the tushie and I could use hand weights more readily, but an upright is a little smaller. Help!
How to you assemble the Pro Fitness Magnetic exercise bike from Argos? I recently bought the pro fitness magnetic exercise bike form Argos (£59.99), but am having problems assembling it. It says you have to disconnect the resistance adjustment from the trimming lead before putting the trimming lead through the handlebar post hole and reconnecting again. Cant get them disconnected as its in tension. Has anyone else bought and assembled this?
Where can one find an exercise bike that has a weight capacity of 620 pounds or higher? I am a very large man and I weigh far too much, and I am tired of it. I have decided to try everything I can to get down to a decent weight, a very strict diet, exercise, and possibly if needed surgery. I would like to get an exercise bike that will support my weight so I can exercise more often, but most I have found support only 300 to 400 pounds. I realize I am much larger than most people ever get, but I hope somebody knows of a machine that can hold at least 620 pounds. Thank you in advance for any help to point me in the right direction.
How can i use my exercise bike correctly for weight loss? Can you please give me some tips like incline or no incline or how long should i use the bike. If i do it everyday will that help at all? It seems i exercise for a half and hour and don't burn many calories. I am just feeling so bloated lately which is making me feel so fat. Help!
Exercise bike is it the same thing as using a treadmill? Im getting an exercise bike, and I was wondering if it will give the same results as a treadmill? I plan on using the weight loss level for the bike and make it so its like a hill climb type. If I do this for 30 minutes everyday what will my results be?
