Recumbent Bikes Knowledge Base
Does anyone know where I can find reviews on exercise recumbent bikes? Or recommend one? I have been looking at the Edge 440 recumbent exercise bike, but cannot find any information on how good they are. I haven't heard of Edge before and wonder if anyone has anything made by them or where I might be able to go online to find any reviews on it. Also if someone has one that they would like to recommend. It is going to be a gift for my father who is approx 6'2" with long legs so the seat needs to be quite adjustable. Thanks
Can recumbent bikes fit on bus bike racks? (In Seattle)? I'm really wondering pretty specifically, if short-wheelbase recumbent bikes will fit on Metro and Community Transit (and I guess Sound Transit) bike racks on those buses in the Seattle area. I have a trike that I know won't, the long-wheelbase bikes seem like they'd obviously not fit, but the short-wheelbase ones appear as though they might. If anyone has any experience with this and whether Metro and Community Transit will allow these on their racks, I'd appreciate it.
Can a stationary recumbent bike help me lose weight in all areas of my body? I have back and knees problems and live in the hills. Floor exercise is painful and walking is too high impact for my bad knee. I am aquiring a stationary recumbent bike and am crossing my fingers that it will help with weight loss. My problem area is my stomach. I have about 25 pounds to lose. Thanks for your advice!
What is the best home recumbent bike and elliptical? I'm looking to buy a recumbent bike and elliptical machine. Considering both price and quality. . . what are the best ones to get? What are the best brands? What are the best places to buy these? Is online best or are there stores that are best to shop at? Thank you for your time.
How to choose between upright and recumbent exercise bike? I have a sit-down job at home and have heel spurs on both feet, which doesn't help my morbid obesity. I want to get an exercise bike for when my feet really hurt, but would like to know opinions on upright versus recumbent exercise bikes. Recumbent might be easier on the tushie and I could use hand weights more readily, but an upright is a little smaller. Help!
What major health club chain carries "Life Fitness" brand recumbent bikes? I've lost 187 pounds using one and I'm having a house built and will no longer have access to the apartment weight room. I also don't want to incorporate a smelly workout room into my new house. Please help. Any health club that carries this brand whether it is LA Fitness, 24Hour Fitness etc... will help soooo much.......
Is using a recumbent bike an effective means to lose weight? When I go to the gym, I tend to use the recumbent bike quite a lot. I usually ride it for about an hour around level 9. I sweat like crazy, but after an hour it says I've only burned about 300 calories. Is this even going to be effective? Feels like from how much I sweat, I'm burning way more....
why are recumbent bikes unstable? OK, why are recumbent bikes LESS stable that their traditional counterparts? The recumbents that I have ridden are very darty at low speeds, such as when climbing a hill. I found them to be comfortable at cruising speeds.
Does a recumbent bike really help with weight loss? I've been using an eliptical machine every other day. On the day between, I'm using a recumbent bike for 30 minutes. Although I work up a mild sweat, I still feel like it's just giving my legs a workout and not the rest of my body. Are recumbents good for cardio? PS- I should mention that the bike is stationary. Riding a bike in this NC humidity just isn't my bag, baby.
Which recumbent exercise bike should I buy? I am interested in a recumbent bike. I am considering the Nautilus 2000 or the Vision Fitness 2150 or 2200. They all have similar features, so I am inquiring primarily about the quality of the bike and comfort with extended use. Any advice will be appreciated. Any other opinions?
Exercise Recumbent bike and losing weight? I just recently bought a recumbent stationary bike. I wanted to lose quite a bit of weight. I intend on dieting as well as riding the bike. My question is how long should I stay on the bike to see results? Or how many calories should I burn? Would you consider this a good form of exercise? Has anybody else seen results with a recumbent bike? I would like to lose atleast 3 pounds a week.
How is the recumbent bike different from the stationary bike? Obviously, one is lower to the floor than the other. But doe you exercise different muscles for each, does one burn more calories than the other, etc? Exactly how are they different? I just started going to the gym and not sure which is better to use.
Need a Recumbent Exercise Bike for Someone with Back Problems? Can anyone recommend a recumbent exercise bike in which the seat backing can be adjusted to either an angle or upright. My wife is looking for one but suffers from extreme back spasms and feels more comfortable in a seat with a near vertical backing. Thanks!
How long should I excercise on a recumbent bike? I'm a 22 year-old smoker, I weigh 220 down from 230 about 2 months ago. I used to run on a treadmill for one mile a day. I have since stopped because it is way too difficult being a smoker. (please spare me the responses on quitting) My weight loss goal is 20 lbs. I believe this is within reach but I would like someone with experience to tell me how long I should pedal per day to get the fastest results. Thanks!
Most efficient way to use my recumbent bike for results? I am 5'5'', 135, and not in a good way. I dont have any body image issues, but since I injured my knees in highschool I cannot run like I used to and I am at my heaviest now. It was my preferred way to workout and get a handle on stress, but its now so painful to run and risky...(my knees go out so easily and i run the risk of falling if I run) I'm not saying that I'm BIG, but I've lost my prized muscle definition that I worked so hard for and replaced it with comfy squishy-ness. I was wondering what the best regimine is for me to combine cardio and strength training. (keep in mind I want lean muscle) Lunges are pretty painfull too. Any suggestions at all that involve my bike mostly and some low joint impact movement off the bike would be appreciated!
Website for exercise bike reviews; have two bikes in mind? I am looking to by a recumbent exercise bike and like these two from amazon. I am not looking to spend more than $200. They are the Stamina 15-4600A Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike and Phoenix 99608 Magnetic Recumbent Exercise Bike. Does anyone have any opinion on these or can direct me to a website that has reviews. I appreciat it.
How effective are exercise bikes? I'm toying with the idea of buying myself an exercise bike. My sister has one, says she burns about 1,000 calories a day. I'm leaning more towards a recumbent bike, preferably the ProForm SR30. I'm figuring a session in the morning, then one after work, plus a bunch of different crunch methods to top things off. Of course, my real problem will be to stay motivated, which is always the hardest part for me.
Which exercise bikes are better, upright or recumbent? I'm looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can't decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Also, if you have any suggestions as to which brands to get or NOT to get, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to spend under $150, just a very basic bike, nothing fancy.
