Is it true an interview with a pharmaceutical sales company could be just a training exercise?

I recently just heard that sometimes when you have a phone interview with a pharmaceutical company that it is just a training exercise for those giving the interview. Has anyone ever heard of this? Meaning that the interview wasn't real at all and they weren't necessarily considering you to begin with.

  1. Yes and no. It is hard to tell, from a candidate's perspective, which phone interviews are real and which are not. Many pharma companies use the initial screening interviews as a training forum for managerial candidates within. However, if one stands out from the initial phone interview, that training interview could just convert itself into a real one. Good luck!
  2. Yes, quite good number of times it is so, that recently phone interviews are for initial orientation of a candidate, to access grasping power of candidate. Otherwise, interviews is for choosing a candidate with required capabilities.
