Recumbent Exercise Bicycles

recumbent vs upright exercise bikes?

Which one is easier on the knees?

  1. I think the recumbent ones are easier on your lower back. Cycling on an upright bike causes your pelvis to tilt forwards and makes you use your hamstrings, glutes, quadriceps and lower back. I also do (sort of) push ups on the handle bars at the rhythm of my breathing.. to give my biceps and shoulders a light workout and to take my mind off the burn in my legs. The muscles surrounding your knees (especially felt immediately above the knee) really get a good workout when you use an exercise bike, don't they.
