Recumbent Exercise Bicycles

What type of pedal system is installed on the 24 hour fitness cycling bikes?

I'd like to buy some cleats for my spinning class.

  1. ...spinning class?? lmfao
  2. I don't think that any type of cleat is compatible with that brand spinning machine. The best thing to do is to ask the instructor. They may allow you to change pedals so you can use cleats. If this can be done make sure you get the proper threading and good stiff soled shoes. Despite others thinking that spinning is not a good idea, it actually optimizes your ability to maintain proper cadence (pedal RPM) and teaches you how to develop your power stroke completely through the entire revolution of the crank... contrary to popular belief, pedaling a bike properly does not end in "push push" but rather "push around and pull around".
  3. Yeah, check with the gym. I think I saw the bikes at our local city gym outfitted with look compatible pedals, but you would want to check with the gym before ordering shoes and cleats.
  4. Every gym I have belonged to used spd pedals (good thing since that is what all my bikes have, too). But check with the gym. I have heard of them using other pedal systems.
  5. Check with the gym first. One of the most common pedal is set up for SPD on one side and Look on the other. It also has an adapter to put the toe clip on it (It has the Look cleat style base & snaps in). You do have the shoes that the cleats go on right? If not, you'll need to buy the shoes too (run about $70 up) and you'll probably want to go with the mountain bike shoe as you can walk around in it a lot easier (it uses the SPD cleat and the cleat is recessed into the sole of the shoe).
